Skinny Legs

The Transat race is a grueling and physically punishing race. This year’s competitors are feeling the pain as we speak. 14 days into the second leg they’re busting their way out of the doldrums and have to call upon all of their strength to keep up the pace to win the race. Being physically fit is a key part of winning the race.  is the newest member of One Girl’s Ocean Challenge and has taken on the challenge of working me into shape for this arduous race.

utilizes your own body weight as resistance training to strengthen, define, tighten and firm your body, waking up smaller secondary muscles and literally pulling the muscles back to the bone creating a longer, slimmer version of yourself, sculpting long and lean arms, legs, glutes and abs through a weekly changing series of exercises together with the spirited cardio from calisthenics.  Not only does Skinny Legs understand muscle structures for women, but they also understand sports and sailing.  Watch the transformation as I become strong, lean and fit for pulling on halyards at all hours of the night.

Happy Friday!  The work list for December is complete.  Bristol Marine is hosting One Girl’s Ocean Challenge for December so we can complete all of the “go fast” work on her for France.  Keel, deck, hull fairing, and the bulb are just a sampling of the things on the list to .  Thanks Bristol Marine!

The IBAO conference was a great success! We met brokers who are sailors, power boaters and people who have never been boating at all, but they were all fascinated about sailing across the Atlantic Ocean in a 21foot rocket machine. Thanks everyone for letting me chare my story 🙂

Then on Sunday we went sailing. It was a GORGEOUS day with a light wind out of the East at 8-10knots.  Four of us set out on OGOC for an afternoon of sunshine, wind and great sailing.  There won’t be too many more days to do this!

It’s an exciting day!  I’m off to the Insurance Brokers Association Ontario conference here in Toronto, with our great friends at Guarantee Company of North America http://bitly.com/hO5Rub.  IBAO’s Annual Convention sets the standard for providing the most powerful networking opportunity available for member insurance brokers, industry leaders and service industry partners!

Last regatta of the season is this weekend. Die Hards at Bronte Yacht Club. We’re racing Storm Trooper, Nick’s Soverel 33, and there’s a bunch of work to do to make her race worthy. Today we’re going diving to scrub the bottom. Cross your fingers that it’s not too cold! We’ve also tuned the rig, re and re’d the mainsheet system and retooled tons of other things to be competitive.  Woohoo!  Bring it on!

First Leg In!

They’re in!  First leg is pretty much finished.  It’s been an interesting leg.  Lots of upwind, light and variable conditions, which is not traditional for this race.  The top protos seemed to favour West of the rhumbline and the top series boats favoured the rhumbline mostly.  It looks in the end like the skippers with the most stamina, strength and endurance prevailed in the constantly shifting and changing conditions.  Can’t wait to see how leg two goes!

The Transat is trucking along at a great pace.  They are about 300nm from the finish in Madeira.  The big gamble is the guys who went west of the rhumbline.  There’s a new low coming in which will pay for them for a while, but let’s see if it’s enough!  http://www.charentemaritime-bahia.transat650.net/en
